Pune, Correspondent

The entire world is witnessing unrest under the shadow of war. At such a time, it is a matter of pride for every Indian that Gandhi Jayanti is observed across the world as the International Day of Non-Violence by the United Nations. Truth, non-violence and Satyagraha were the core principles given to humanity by Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhi’s Satyagraha was for the welfare of the entire humanity,” said senior Gandhian thinker Dr. Ulhasdada Pawar.

He was speaking as the chief guest at ‘Smaran Mahamanavanche’, an event organised at the Sant Dnyaneshwar Mandap by MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU), MAEER’s MIT Education Group and the Department of Peace, to commemorate the birth anniversaries ofMahatma Gandhi and Bharat Ratna Lal Bahadur Shastri.

The programme was presided over by Vishwadharmi Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad, Founder President of MAEER’s MIT World Peace University.

MIT-WPU Registrar Prof. Ganesh Pokale, Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr. Milind Pande, Senior Advisor to MIT Dr. S. N. Pathan, Prof. Dr. Milind Patre, Dr. Mahesh Thorve, author Anil Joshi, Dr. Vinodkumar Jadhav, Vishnu Bhise, Colonel Tandale and Bipin Joshi were present on the occasion.

Dr. Ulhasdada Pawar said, “Mahatma Gandhi gave priority to the eradication of untouchability. He believed that the principles of equal respect for all religions and Hindu-Muslim unity should take root in society, and that no community in India should be divided on the basis of caste or religion. The principle of raising a struggle through Satyagraha, based on the three values of humanity, equality and morality, was given to Gandhi by Justice M. G. Ranade. Lal Bahadur Shastri was a disciple of Mahatma Gandhi. With peace, humility and unwavering commitment to his principles, Shastriji served the nation. Keeping the thoughts and values of Gandhi and Shastri in mind, the work of Dr. Vishwanath Karad is also being carried forward on the same foundation of values.”
Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad said, “Truth, non-violence and peace are the fundamental principles of human life. Recognising that the scriptures are the true guides to life, Mahatma Gandhi continuously followed the path of peace. India is known to the world as the land of Gandhi and Buddha. In today’s war-like global situation, the world needs Gandhi’s message of truth, non-violence, love, peace and universal humanity. Mahatma Gandhi, who upheld the continuity of truth through Satyagraha, represents the ideal of world peace and the welfare of humanity.”

Dr. Milind Pande said, “This country needs Gandhi’s thoughts more than ever. The teachings and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi are included in the curriculum at MIT World Peace University. Through the World Parliament, we will continue to take these thoughts to people across the world.”

Dr. S. N. Pathan said, “These were personalities who promoted Hindu-Muslim brotherhood. They believed that all human beings are children of the same God. It is essential to introduce Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals to the new generation.”

Vishnu Bhise said, “Mahatma Gandhi translated the principles of the Bhagavad Gita into action through spirituality. He laid the foundation of truth, non-violence and morality in the country. Even powerful nations across the world are increasingly becoming followers of Gandhi’s ideals.”
