Ward Reservation Lottery Announced

The trumpet for the upcoming Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) elections has sounded. The reservation lottery for a total of 128 seats was announced on November 11th. Due to this lottery, many political veterans have seen their wards change, causing anxiety among them.

PIMPRI, 11 NOV. The trumpet for the upcoming Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) elections has sounded. The reservation lottery for a total of 128 seats was announced on November 11th. Due to this lottery, many political veterans have seen their wards change, causing anxiety among them.

The upcoming PCMC general election will be held under the 4-member panel system. There will be 32 wards (Prabhags) in total, and 128 corporators will be elected. Out of these, 64 seats are reserved for women and 64 seats for men.

Reservation Lottery Process

The reservation lottery process was completed at the Prof. Ramkrishna More Auditorium in Chinchwad. The process was overseen by the authorized officer appointed by the State Election Commission, Pune Divisional Commissioner Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar.

Several officials were present on the occasion, including PCMC Additional Commissioners Pradeep Jambhale Patil and Trupti Sandbhor, Chief Engineer Pramod Ombase, Joint Commissioner Manoj Lonkar, Assistant Town Planner Prashant Shimpi, City Secretary Mukesh Kolap, Joint City Engineer Anil Bhalsakale, Chief IT Officer Vijay Borude, Election Department Deputy Commissioners Sachin Pawar and Anna Bodade, Security Officer Uday Jarande, Special Officer Kiran Gaikwad, and Public Relations Officer Prafull Puranik.

Deputy Election Commissioner Sachin Pawar initially explained the reservation rules of the State Election Commission, followed by the four-stage lottery process:

  1. First Stage: Lottery for Scheduled Caste (Women) seats was drawn by schoolchildren.

  2. Second Stage: Lottery for Scheduled Tribe (Women) seats was held.

  3. Third Stage: Lottery for Backward Class (OBC) reservation was conducted.

  4. Final Stage: Lottery for General Women seats was drawn, and the final ward-wise reservation was announced.

The program was conducted by Deputy Commissioner Anna Bodade, with the introductory remarks given by Sachin Pawar.
