PUNE, 23 NOV. A pall of gloom has descended over Junnar after two young real siblings drowned in a farm pond (agricultural pond) in the city. The deceased have been identified as Afan Afsar Inamdar (10) and his sister, Rifat Afsar Inamdar (7). The heartbreaking incident occurred in the farm pond located near the Idgah Maidan in Junnar city, leaving the Inamdar family completely devastated.
On Saturday, around four in the evening, Afan and Rifat had left their home to play but did not return. When they remained untraced after a considerable amount of time, family members initiated a search. Due to the presence of leopards in the area, a massive search operation was launched involving the Forest Department squad, Police, and a Drone Team. During the search, the children's shoes and slippers were found lying on the bank of the farm pond. Subsequently, the search focus shifted to the water. With the help of the rescue team, both the siblings were pulled out of the pond. They were immediately rushed to the hospital in an ambulance, but doctors pronounced both of them dead upon arrival. According to information received, the children's father had gone to Dubai a few months ago for work, and their mother and grandmother were caring for them. The sudden and unfortunate incident has plunged Junnar city and the surrounding areas into deep mourning.
