One Woman Dead, Eight Injured
A woman Warkari pilgrim died and eight others were injured when a speeding container truck crashed into a Warkari pilgrimage group (Dindi) heading for the Kartiki Ekadashi procession.
PIMPRI, 11 NOV. A woman Warkari pilgrim died and eight others were injured when a speeding container truck crashed into a Warkari pilgrimage group (Dindi) heading for the Kartiki Ekadashi procession.
The incident occurred today morning around 6:00 AM. The deceased woman Warkari has been identified as Priyanka Tandel, aged 55 years.
According to the information received, the 'Shri Davji Patil Dindi' pilgrimage group had started from Uran for the Kartiki Wari (pilgrimage) to Alandi. While the Dindi was passing through the Kamshet Ghat on foot, a speeding container truck, whose driver lost control, ploughed into the group. The container hit the pilgrims. Police confirmed that one woman pilgrim died and eight others were injured in the incident.
The injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. They are currently undergoing treatment and are reported to be in stable condition. The accident occurred on the Old Pune-Mumbai Highway, leading to a brief traffic jam, which was later cleared.
