PUNE, 15 NOV. The Pune Civil Court on Friday cancelled the deal regarding the sale of three acres of land belonging to the Sheth Hirachand Nemchand Smarak Trust (Jain Boarding Trust) between the Trust and Gokhle LLP. The court issued an order to nullify the registered sale deed related to this land. Following the verdict, Acharya Guptinandi Maharaj of the Sakal Jain Sangh held a press conference on Saturday and thanked the court, government, administration, and the core committee for their efforts.
Acharya Guptinandi Maharaj stated that those trustees who are not concerned about the hostel, are inactive, or lack dedication and affection for the cause, should voluntarily step down from their positions. He emphasized that the responsibility should only be entrusted to individuals who are capable of working for the hostel, willing to dedicate their time, and adhere strictly to the rules.
The Maharaj stressed that it is extremely necessary to register the Trust's name again on Index-2 (the property record). He highlighted that this verdict is not just limited to the Jain community but establishes a very important legal precedent for all religious institutions in Maharashtra. He expressed gratitude for the unity shown by the citizens of Pune city, the entire state of Maharashtra, people of all castes and religions, political parties, religious organizations, and the media in this legal battle, stating that this fight was not just for the Jain community, but for the security of all religious institutions.
Demand for Strict Government Control
Expressing concern, the Maharaj stated that the sale of trust properties in Maharashtra has increased alarmingly. He emphasized the urgent need for strict control and clear regulations on such transactions. Maharaj concluded that a greater religious act than building thousands of new temples is to save an old, historical, and useful temple or hostel. Akshay Jain, CA Anand Kankariya, Swapnil Gangwal, Advocate Yogesh Pandey, Chandrakant Patil, Mahavir Chougule, and Advocate Sukoushal Jinturkar were present on the occasion.
