Pune Airport Imposes Mandatory Secondary Security Checks at Boarding Gate
Enhanced Security Following National Alert; Passengers Advised to Arrive Three Hours Early
In response to a heightened national security alert, the Pune Airport has significantly tightened its security protocols, leading to the implementation of mandatory and exhaustive passenger checks.
PUNE, 13 NOV. In response to a heightened national security alert, the Pune Airport has significantly tightened its security protocols, leading to the implementation of mandatory and exhaustive passenger checks. The most notable change is the compulsory application of the Secondary Ladder Point Check (SLPC), also known as the pre-boarding security check, which is now 100% mandatory for all flights.
Under this enhanced security measure, passengers undergo an additional round of security screening, including frisking and checking of hand baggage, right near the boarding gate or inside the aerobridge just before they step into the aircraft. This process is carried out by airline officials under the supervision of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel.
Due to the increased duration of these security procedures, the Pune Airport management has issued an advisory urging all air travelers to reach the airport three hours before their scheduled flight departure, instead of the routine two hours. This measure aims to prevent inconvenience and delays for passengers navigating the extensive security process.
Airport officials, along with the CISF teams, have substantially intensified patrolling at all entry and exit gates and are keeping a close watch on suspicious activities. Airlines have also been directed to issue advisories and alert passengers about the necessary increase in arrival time to ensure smooth operations and compliance with the stringent security directives.
