Heavy Rain Likely Across Maharashtra Due to Low-Pressure Zone and Cyclone “Montha”

Pune: Correspondent

A low-pressure area over the Arabian Sea and cyclone Montha forming over the Bay of Bengal are expected to bring widespread rainfall across most parts of Maharashtra over the next 48 hours, according to the Meteorological Department.

During this period, wind speeds may reach 40–50 km per hour, and high waves are likely in the sea. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea until conditions improve.

Moderate rainfall accompanied by gusty winds is expected in Mumbai, the Konkan coast, and Goa. Pune, Satara, Kolhapur, Solapur, Sangli, Ahmednagar, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar districts are also likely to experience moderate rain with strong winds. In Marathwada, cloudy weather and light rainfall have been predicted.

In Vidarbha, heavy to very heavy rainfall warnings have been issued for Yavatmal, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli districts. Thunderstorms with heavy rain are also expected in Nagpur, Gondia, Wardha, Bhandara, Amravati, Buldhana, Akola, and Washim districts.
