NCP leader Rohit Pawar has alleged that, apart from irregularities in MH-CET percentile scores, highly confidential data of around 4.5 lakh students has also been leaked from the Maharashtra CET Cell.
In a post on X, Pawar claimed that the leaked data allegedly includes students' names, examination centres, the group for which they appeared for the test, mobile numbers and email IDs.
According to him, the information has reportedly reached various admission consultancies and agents in Maharashtra.
Pawar further alleged that students are being contacted directly through phone calls and messages with offers to increase their CET scores or percentiles for money, manage examination centres and secure direct admission to reputed institutions such as COEP, VJTI, PICT and SPIT.
Describing the allegations as a serious matter, Pawar said the issue raises concerns not only over the transparency of competitive examinations in the state but also over the security and confidentiality of students' personal data.
He alleged that administrative lapses and corruption had created a situation of "administrative failure" in the state and demanded accountability from the authorities.
Pawar said he would visit the CET Cell office in Mumbai at 11 am on Friday, along with students, parents and teachers, to seek an explanation over the alleged data leak and related concerns.
