Speed Up Loan Disbursement Under Government Schemes: Collector

All banks in Sangli district should take timely decisions on loan applications received under government schemes and speed up loan disbursement, said District Collector Dr. Mainak Ghosh. He also directed banks to help applicants complete any missing documents or other requirements in their proposals.

Dr. Ghosh was speaking at a meeting of the District Level Advisory Committee held at the Collector’s Office. He said banks and government departments should improve coordination for the effective implementation of various banking and credit schemes.

He directed banks to process loan applications quickly so that eligible beneficiaries do not face unnecessary delays. He also asked banks to ensure that maximum eligible beneficiaries benefit from schemes for agriculture, MSMEs, self-employment and women’s self-help groups.

The Collector further instructed that meetings of the Taluka Level Bankers’ Committees should be held regularly to identify and resolve problems at the local level.

Dr. Ghosh said banks and government agencies should work together to achieve the targets set under the district’s Annual Credit Plan. Efforts should begin immediately to achieve the annual targets. He also stressed the need to strengthen financial literacy programmes in rural areas to provide citizens with information about banking services, documents required for loan applications and various social security schemes.

The meeting reviewed the progress of various banking schemes, loan disbursement and financial inclusion programmes in the district. A detailed review was taken of the Annual Credit Plan, priority sector lending, agricultural loans, Kisan Credit Cards (KCC), agricultural term loans, MSME loans, credit linkage for women’s self-help groups and loans under government-sponsored schemes.

The meeting also reviewed overdue loans and NPAs, loan recovery, Credit-Deposit (CD) Ratio, loan proposals under welfare schemes of various corporations, Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Atal Pension Yojana.

District Lead Bank Manager Nikhil Sawale, NABARD District Development Manager Nilesh Chaudhary, District Deputy Registrar Sunil Chavan, District Industries Centre Manager Tanaji Khandekar, RSETI Director Mahesh Patil, MSRLM’s Shambhuraje Salunkhe, along with officers from various departments, corporation managers, bank representatives and committee members were present.
