Uttam G. Sonparakhe, a Marathi teacher at PM SHRI Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Takali Dhokeshwar, Taluka Parner, District Ahilyanagar, was honoured with the ‘National Teacher Award 2026’ in recognition of his dedicated contribution to education and the holistic development of students.
The award was presented to Sonparakhe at a grand ceremony organised by Global Elite Media and Tech at the Symbiosis Ishanya Auditorium in Viman Nagar, Pune. He was felicitated with a memento and a certificate of honour for his notable work in the field of education, innovative initiatives for students’ overall development and emphasis on value-based education.
Sonparakhe has an extensive and dedicated 34-year journey in the field of education. Throughout his career, he has placed students’ personality development at the centre of his teaching and has implemented several innovative educational initiatives.
He has consistently worked to cultivate a love for reading, language skills, creativity, confidence, critical thinking, social awareness and moral values among students.

Sonparakhe has enriched the teaching of Marathi with a variety of activities aimed at nurturing students’ hidden talents and abilities. Considering holistic student development as the central focus of his educational work, he has given equal importance to knowledge, values, character building and life skills.
His contribution has also been specifically acknowledged in the award citation, which commends his significant efforts towards students’ holistic development and value-based education.
Award dedicated to students
While accepting the award, Sonparakhe dedicated the honour to his students, fellow teachers, parents and everyone who supported him throughout his long educational journey.
“A teacher’s honour is not merely the recognition of an individual; it is a celebration of the dreams and achievements of the countless students shaped by that teacher,” he said.
The award has brought a new distinction at the national level to the educational work of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Takali Dhokeshwar, as well as to the education sector of Ahilyanagar district.
