PUNE, 15 NOV. The Cyber Police and Crime Branch Unit Two in Pimpri-Chinchwad have successfully exposed two unauthorized call centers operating in the Ghera building in Phase Two of the Hinjewadi IT hub that were defrauding American citizens. The fraudsters would scam US nationals under the pretext of improving their credit scores to secure loans. They would pose as representatives of a "Community Choice Financial Company," lure victims with promises of better credit scores, and then ask them to purchase coupons from various companies, which were subsequently converted into dollars.
A second method of fraud involved the accused pretending to be from the American Medical Health Department and claiming that the use of certain medicines like Round Up, Talcum Powder, and Zantac had caused various cancers. They would then promise to help the victims receive large settlements by going to court against the drug companies. They would gather detailed personal information from the victims and sell it to third-party organizations in America to make a profit.
Cases have been registered against the owners and managers of the two call centers, "Techla Solution" and "Sky Solution." The arrested individuals—Dhananjay Sahebrao Kasar (owner of Techla Solution), Harshad Shankar Khamkar (manager of Techla Solution), Sagar Kumar Yadav (owner of Sky Solution), and Anand Pankaj Sinha (manager of Sky Solution)—have been remanded to police custody until November 18. Police teams led by Cyber Police Inspector Kiran Nale and Crime Branch Unit Two Inspector Arvind Pawar seized 20 hard disks and three laptops during the raids.
