Land Acquisition Report for Purandar Airport Sent to State Government

PUNE, 11 NOV. The detailed report on land measurement and compensation amount related to the land acquisition for the proposed international airport in Purandar was sent to the State Government on Tuesday, November 11. After approval of this report, the district administration will determine the compensation amount for the land and finalize the scale of its distribution. It is expected that the compensation amount to be paid to the farmers will be decided by the end of this month, according to District Collector Jitendra Dudi.

50 Hectares of Land Not Yet Acquired

Dudi informed that the estimated cost for this land acquisition is approximately five thousand crore rupees. Under this project, nearly 1,285 hectares (about three thousand acres) of land across seven villages will be acquired. Of this, about 3 to 4 percent (around 50 hectares) of the land has not yet been acquired.

Farmers to Provide 240 Hectares of Additional Land

He also stated that farmers have agreed to provide approximately 240 hectares of additional land that falls outside the planned map. The measurement work for that land has been completed. The report took one week longer than the scheduled time because the compensation for each farmer—based on their land, trees, wells, pipelines, etc.—will be calculated based on this report. Therefore, the report was prepared with extreme caution.

Demand for Increase in Rehabilitation Package

This proposal has now been sent to the State Government under Section 32(1) of the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) Act. Dudi mentioned that after the proposal receives approval from the State Government, the calculation of farmers' compensation, as per Section 32(3), will be completed within the next two weeks. Meanwhile, farmers have demanded an increase in the compensation amount and the rehabilitation package. "We will discuss this matter with the State Government," Dudi said.

Details of 240 Hectares Additional Land

Out of the 1,285 hectares of land being acquired for the airport, land owners have not yet consented to give approximately 50 hectares. However, farmers have expressed their willingness to give an additional 240 hectares of land outside the map, the measurement of which has also been completed.

What is a '32(1) Proposal'?

In land acquisition, the '32(1) Proposal' is a report sent to the State Government. It includes all necessary information and documents required for the acquisition. This proposal is a crucial step in starting the land acquisition process and determining the compensation.
