In a decisive crackdown on exam malpractice, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced the formation of a high-powered committee to overhaul the state’s public service recruitment and examination framework.
Backed by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, the sweeping administrative reform aims to stamp out paper leaks and secure the academic futures of millions of aspirants.
Headed by Additional Chief Secretary of the General Administration Department V Radha, the high-level committee includes State Director General of Police Sadanand Date, IT Secretary Virendra Singh, Animal Husbandry Secretary Dr. N. Ramaswami, and Nashik Divisional Commissioner Pravin Gedam. The panel will tour every revenue division in the state to hold direct consultations with students, educational institution heads, and key stakeholders to map out structural vulnerabilities.
While Maharashtra already maintains its own regulatory framework, the state cabinet has resolved to adopt the union government's rigorous anti-paper leak law. Administrative enforcement of the stricter central legislation is mandated to conclude within a fortnight.
To safeguard testing environments, the state has ordered the immediate development of at least 25,000 secure, tech-monitored classrooms. The administration is instituting a strict collaborative network linking District Collectors, Police Commissioners, Superintendents of Police, and education officials to ensure zero-tolerance transparency for all upcoming recruitment drives.
