Residents of Sectors 24, 25, 26, 27 and 28 in Pradhikaran are facing considerable inconvenience due to extensive excavation being carried out for various development works. Footpath widening under the ‘Green Setu’ initiative, gas pipeline installation, rainwater recharge works and electricity-related projects are being undertaken simultaneously at several locations.
As a result, roads have been dug up at multiple points and construction debris has accumulated along the streets. Residents have raised concerns that repeated excavation is posing a risk to underground electricity and water pipelines, leading to instances of power interruptions and disruption of water supply.
Extensive work is currently underway near Jankiban Bajaj Auto Housing Society close to Hutatma Chowk, as well as in several other parts of Pradhikaran. While footpath widening is being carried out under the Green Setu project, gas pipeline installation and rainwater recharge works are also being undertaken simultaneously. The lack of coordination between different agencies has reportedly added to the difficulties faced by residents.
Repeated excavation using JCB machines has left considerable debris on the roads, reducing the space available for traffic. With vehicle movement increasing, particularly during the festive season, traffic congestion has become a frequent problem. The situation has become more difficult as the movement of residents to markets and other commercial areas has increased during Ganeshotsav.
Residents have also alleged that excavation is sometimes carried out without adequately checking the location of underground electricity and water pipelines. In some places, pipelines are reportedly damaged during the work. Such incidents can result in power outages, while damage to water pipelines causes water to flow onto the roads and can lead to interruptions in water supply.
A section of the excavation carried out for various works near the Ganesh temple in Pradhikaran has also raised concerns. Residents said that the temple has been without water for the past four days during the Ganesh festival, adding to the inconvenience.
Need for Coordination Between Departments
Residents have called for better coordination among the various departments before undertaking multiple projects simultaneously. They have demanded that information regarding underground electricity, water and gas pipelines be obtained in advance and that excavation work be planned and executed in a coordinated manner.

Increasing traffic and the narrowing of roads have resulted in frequent traffic jams. Citizens are being put to unnecessary hardship.
