As many as 37,687 cases were settled amicably during the National Lok Adalat organised across Pune district and all taluka courts under the guidance of the National Legal Services Authority and the Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority.
The Lok Adalat was conducted under the guidance of Anju S. Shende, Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairperson of the District Legal Services Authority, Pune.
A total of 2,59,035 cases were placed before the Lok Adalat for settlement. Of these, 37,687 cases were resolved through mutual agreement between the parties.
The cases included both pending court matters and pre-litigation disputes involving civil and criminal cases, cheque dishonour, motor accident compensation claims, family disputes, bank recovery, land acquisition, electricity bills and other matters.
7,744 Pending Court Cases Settled
Of the 84,920 pending cases placed before the Lok Adalat, 7,744 cases were settled through mutual consent.
Among 1,74,115 pre-litigation cases, another 29,943 cases were resolved amicably.
The Lok Adalat mechanism enabled disputing parties to resolve their cases through dialogue and mutual settlement, helping them save considerable time, effort and legal expenses. It also helped promote harmony in family, property and other disputes.
Judicial officers, advocates, banks, insurance companies, government departments and litigants actively participated in the successful conduct of the National Lok Adalat.
