Beed district has achieved a remarkable milestone under the “Diwali Nawin Gharkulat” (Diwali in a New Home) initiative, completing over 50,000 rural homes in record time. The feat makes Beed the top-performing district in Maharashtra under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and the state-sponsored rural housing schemes.

The massive housing drive, supported by ₹990 crore in government funds, has turned the dream of owning a home into a reality for thousands of families in rural Beed this festive season.

Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister of Beed, Ajit Pawar, congratulated beneficiaries, district officials, public representatives, and all those who contributed to the success of the project. “This initiative was inspired by the vision that every family in rural Maharashtra should have a home of their own. The fact that thousands of Beed families celebrated Diwali in their new houses is the true success story of this campaign,” Pawar said.

He credited the achievement to “meticulous planning, dedicated teamwork, and constant follow-up” by the district administration. The specially developed ‘PMAY (Soft)’ mobile application played a key role in monitoring progress and ensuring accountability. Each officer was assigned specific areas, and daily updates helped maintain construction momentum.

“Strong coordination between departments, timely release of funds, and regular monitoring made it possible to complete this massive target within just four months,” officials said. Under the leadership of the Beed District Collector, steps were taken to ensure availability of construction materials like sand and to address on-site issues promptly.

Highlighting the social significance of the effort, Pawar added that special focus was given to ensure migrant sugarcane workers’ families received homes before the harvest migration season, allowing them to celebrate Diwali in dignity and security.

Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pawar said, “By approving an additional target under PMAY for Maharashtra, the Prime Minister has strengthened the dream of housing for all.” He reiterated the state government’s commitment to ensuring that no eligible family in Beed remains without a roof over their head.

“This success belongs to every citizen, officer, and representative of Beed. We will continue to work with the same determination for the district’s all-round development,” Pawar affirmed, extending heartfelt Diwali greetings to the people.
