Minister's convoy vehicle damaged by irate villagers in Madhubani

Madhubani, June 7

A vehicle in the convoy of Bihar minister and local MLA Arun Shankar Prasad was on Sunday damaged by angry villagers in Madhubani district during a protest over a recent fatal road accident.

According to police sources, the incident occurred in Dahar village under the Khajauli police station area, where a young man had died in a road accident a few days ago. Minister Arun Shankar Prasad had visited the village to meet the bereaved family and express his condolences.

Soon after the minister''s arrival, villagers gathered at the site and raised slogans against the administration. They alleged that the vehicle involved in the fatal accident was linked to liquor smuggling and questioned the role and response of the police in the case.

Some agitated villagers reportedly surrounded a vehicle accompanying the minister''s convoy and smashed its window panes.

Security personnel quickly escorted the minister to safety. Local administrative officials and police teams rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

Senior Superintendent of Police Yogendra Kumar also visited the scene to assess the situation. Additional police forces have been deployed in the area as a precautionary measure.

Sources said an investigation is underway into both the road accident and the incident involving damage to the convoy vehicle.
