“You Acquire Our Land for Development, So Why Force Us to Protest?”

“Why do you acquire our land in the name of development and promise us jobs, only to fail to honour those promises and force selected candidates to take to the streets to demand justice?” This question was raised by Comrade Krishna Bhoyar, General Secretary of the Maharashtra State Electricity Workers Federation, who has launched a protest at Azad Maidan in Mumbai.

The federation’s office-bearers, including President Comrade Mohan Sharma, Vice-President Comrade S. R. Khatib and General Secretary Comrade Krishna Bhoyar, have repeatedly submitted representations to the government, seeking justice for candidates selected for recruitment by Mahagenco (Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited).

The federation has put forward the following key demands:

  1. Immediate appointment orders: Issue appointment letters to candidates selected in accordance with the terms and conditions specified in Mahagenco’s recruitment advertisement.

  2. Appointments subject to the court’s verdict: Since the matter is pending before the court, the appointment orders should clearly state that the appointments will be subject to the final judgment, which will be binding on the selected candidates.

  3. Recruitment to vacant posts: Immediately issue recruitment advertisements to fill sanctioned vacant posts in Mahagenco.

  4. Consolidation of court cases: All court cases related to the recruitment process should be clubbed together and heard by the Bombay High Court.

The federation has urged the government to intervene without further delay and ensure that the selected candidates receive justice. It maintains that candidates who have fulfilled the recruitment requirements should not be made to suffer because of prolonged legal proceedings and unfulfilled assurances.
