New Delhi, Ravi Sarraf
Ramsharan Nautiyal, father of renowned singer Jubin Nautiyal, rejoined the Congress on Monday in the presence of party general secretary and Uttarakhand in-charge Kumari Selja and Uttarakhand Congress president Ganesh Godiyal at the party headquarters at 24 Akbar Road in New Delhi.
Senior Congress leader Yashpal Arya and other party leaders were also present on the occasion. Welcoming Ramsharan Nautiyal back into the party, Selja said her former colleague has been feeling suffocated in the BJP and had become disillusioned with the party's atmosphere and functioning. She said the Congress welcomed his return. Godiyal said Nautiyal's joining would strengthen the Congress in Uttarakhand and expressed hope that his presence would give fresh momentum to the party organisation.
During the event, Selja launched a sharp attack on the BJP over the Ankita Bhandari murder case, alleging that the case had shaken the entire country but justice had yet to be delivered to the victim's family.
She claimed that purported audio recordings involving people linked to the BJP had surfaced and that the name of a VIP had also figured in public discussions. However, she alleged that all aspects of the case had not been thoroughly investigated.
Selja further alleged that Dushyant Gautam, whose name had surfaced in connection with the alleged VIP angle, had not been questioned. She also raised questions over his appointment to the Raj Bhavan in Sikkim, claiming that the move could potentially affect legal proceedings.
The allegations made by Selja were not independently verified in the information provided. With the next Assembly elections in Uttarakhand approaching, the Congress has been stepping up its organisational preparations. Ramsharan Nautiyal's return to the party is being viewed as a significant political development amid the Congress's efforts to strengthen its organisation in the state.
