Telangana CM Revanth Reddy announces Rs 10 cr welfare fund & reforms for Telugu film workers!

Hyderabad

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday evening announced several welfare measures for the Telugu film industry’s workforce, including the creation of a Rs 10-crore welfare fund, the establishment of a dedicated school for workers’ children, and free medical facilities under the Arogyasri scheme.

Addressing a felicitation function organised by the Telugu Film Industry Employees Federation and its 24 affiliated unions at the Yousufguda Police Grounds, the Chief Minister recalled the contribution of former Chief Minister Marri Chenna Reddy, who, he said, played a crucial role in shifting the Telugu film industry to Hyderabad.

“Chenna Reddy garu brought stalwarts like NTR, ANR, and Krishna to Hyderabad and laid the foundation for today’s thriving industry,” he noted.

He also mentioned that Dr Prabhakar Reddy had donated 10 acres of land in Manikonda for film workers and made significant efforts to establish Chitrapuri Colony.

Praising the relentless efforts of cine artists and technicians, Revanth Reddy said, “Your hard work has taken Telugu cinema to the level of the Oscars.”

The Chief Minister said that the government has introduced the Praja Yudha Nauka Gaddar Awards in place of the discontinued Nandi Awards to recognise outstanding contributions to cinema.

He said producer Dil Raju had been appointed as Chairman of the Film Development Corporation to serve as a bridge between the government and the film industry, ensuring that the concerns of workers are addressed effectively.

Revanth Reddy said the government would contribute Rs 10 crore to the Film Workers’ Welfare Fund and would construct a corporate-level school in Krishna Nagar to provide quality education from nursery to Class 12 for the children of film workers.
