Rahul Gandhi is 'gaddar', BJP claims; alleges links between riots in France and protests in India

New Delhi, Agency

The BJP on Thursday made its fiercest attack against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of having links with foreign-based organisations to create "anarchy and chaos" in India, calling him a "gaddar", a "traitor".

Citing a foreign media report alleging links between riots in France and recent protests in India, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia accused the Congress of plotting "anarchy and regime change", calling Rahul Gandhi a "gaddar" (traitor). Claiming that the findings pointed to links between foreign organisations and protests in India, Bhatia also referred to a Congress social media post documenting a meeting between Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and a Progressive International delegation in April 2025.

The Congress should disclose the discussions held during the meeting with Progressive International, clarify whether any agreement was reached, and explain the organisations' sources of funding, including any links with foreign individuals or entities, he said, addressing media persons Repeatedly referring to Rahul Gandhi as "Rahul Gaddar", he said: "It is India's misfortune that the leader of the opposition is irresponsible and immature. And if I present the evidence before you, it would not be wrong to call him a traitor or Mir Jafar". "It is a model of anarchy, chaos, and treachery that Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi is presenting before the country," Bhatia claimed, referring to the said report.

Demanding an answer from the Congress, BJP's Pradeep Bhandari said the 'Regime Change' attempt failed because of Indian democracy was protected under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Taking to social media, Bhandari wrote: Global investigation exposes Anarchy and Regime Change Plot of Congress! Investigation report titled "Global Chaos inc grows to 101 groups" flags how the communist organization Progressive International (PI) was coordinating common messaging between protests in France, Albania and India.

"The aim of the messaging was "acquiring organised power through new rebellion": Regime change! Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi had met Progressive International at 10 Janpath on 10th April 2025! This further proves Rahul Gandhi and Congress is in the remote control of Foreign Anti Democratic Forces!," he wrote "Congress must reveal if it was coordinating with Progressive International during the protest and what was messaging between Congress and this organisation when protests were ongoing.

Rahul Gandhi moving to Vietnam is it related to taking instructions from many such organisations for the November 1 anarchic protest? Sanjay Raut's posting about Albania was not a mere coincidence. Albania is the country mentioned in the report," Bhandari added Bhatia, too, cited the social media post by Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut concerning protests in Albania, claiming it could be interpreted as support for actions against constitutional institutions. He linked the issue to slogans raised by protesters on the Supreme Court premises.

"Protesting is a fundamental right, but destruction, destroying institutions, arson and violent demonstrations are not fundamental rights," Bhatia said
