Election Commission holds meeting with political parties before Bihar assembly polls
Patna, 4 Oct 2025 : A full team of the Election Commission headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar today held discussions with political parties seeking their suggestions before the Bihar assembly elections.
According to a press statement issued here, CEC Kumar, along with other Election Commissioners and Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Bihar Vinod Singh Gunjiyal, held discussions with political parties of Bihar and sought their suggestions to ensure free and fair upcoming state assembly elections.
Political parties are foundation stones of democracy, and they should play an active role in extending help to the Election Commission in conducting elections, the Commission noted.
"All political parties should recognize rights given to the electorate in the constitution and respect the same," the Commission said and called upon all political parties to depute their agents at all booths during assembly elections.
Parties also thanked the Election Commission for Special Intensive Revision(SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, the Commission stated.

"Parties welcomed the decision to fix a maximum number of 1200 voters in one booth," the Commission said, adding that parties requested holding the Bihar assembly elections soon after the Chhath festival to ensure maximum participation of voters.
Parties expressed their hopes that the Election Commission would ensure free and fair state assembly elections, the Commission stated.
Representatives of the BJP, JD(U), RJD, Congress, LJP (Ram Vilas), CPI, CPI(M), Rastriya Lok Janshakti Party, BSP and the National People's Party met with the full team of the Election Commission. They shared their suggestions with the Commission and urged them to hold free and fair elections.
