4-day National Conference on Surgical Gastroenterology IASGCON 2025 begins tomorrow
Chennai, 8 October 2025
The 35th annual National Conference of the Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology (IASGCON 2025) will be held here from tomorrow to October 12, 2025.
The 4-day event will be hosted by the Tamil Nadu Surgical Gastroenterology Alumni Association. With the participation of 1200 to 1500 delegates, including surgical gastroenterologists, hepatobiliary and GI surgeons, residents, researchers, and international faculty, IASGCON 2025 is set to be the flagship academic event in Indian Surgical Gastroenterology. The theme of the conference is “Gastrointestinal Oncology, Innovations, Artificial Intelligence and Beyond”.
The conference will feature state-of-the-art lectures, operative video sessions, panel discussions, orations, paper presentations, and resident training modules. Special workshops will cover endoscopy, robotic surgery, vascular anastomosis, and cadaver organ retrieval, giving young surgeons invaluable hands-on exposure. India is witnessing a sharp rise in GI cancers, liver and pancreatic diseases, and complex gastrointestinal surgical disorders. With advances in minimally invasive surgery, organ-preserving techniques, and early diagnosis, specialised surgical care has never been more critical.
IASGCON 2025 will provide a common platform for thought leaders, innovators, and practitioners to translate these advances into better patient outcomes - especially in government hospitals and resource-limited settings. Organising Secretary Dr S Jeswanth, who is also the Director, Institute of Surgical Gastroenterology and Liver Transplantation, Government Stanley Medical College, Chennai, said today that “IASGCON is not just a conference--it is where the future of gastrointestinal surgery in India is shaped."
This year’s edition in Tamil Nadu will highlight not only academic excellence, but also the importance of equitable access to advanced surgical care across public and private sectors. "We look forward to welcoming delegates from all over India and abroad to share, learn, and lead", he said. He said Tamil Nadu is the birthplace of gastrointestinal surgery as a subspecialty in India and today accounts for nearly 40% of the country’s medical tourism. Hosting IASGCON 2025 in Chennai underlines the state’s continuing leadership in cutting-edge healthcare and education.
