The corona vaccine, Covaxin, which is manufactured in India, has not yet been approved by the World Health Organization, but has been approved by India's ally Australia. In addition to the inclusion of the vaccine, which is manufactured in India Biotech, in the list of approved vaccines in Australia, passengers from India who have taken two doses of the vaccine will be deemed to have been fully vaccinated.; stated Indian High Commissioner to Australia Barry O'Farel.
The vaccine has not yet been approved by the World Health Organization. Covaxin was expected to be approved at a meeting on October 26. However, more information about the vaccine was requested from the organization. Now the approval is likely to be obtained at a meeting on November 3.
The vaccine has been developed by the Indian council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Bharat Biotech. To get the vaccine approved, Bharat Biotech approached WHO and the application has been filed on April 19. However, even before this approval, Australia has approved the covaxin. The Covishield vaccine, which is made in India by Serum Institute, has already been approved by Australia.
