Maharashtra MLC Polls 2026: Mahayuti Registers Landslide Victory, MVA Reduced to One Seat
Some Candidates Get Just Five Votes, One Draws Blank
Mumbai, Varsha Karanje
The Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC) elections have delivered a resounding victory for the ruling Mahayuti alliance, while the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) suffered one of its worst performances in recent years.
Of the 17 seats that went to polls, results for 11 constituencies have been declared, with Mahayuti candidates winning an overwhelming majority. Overall, the alliance has secured victory in 16 of the 17 seats, leaving the MVA with just one seat.
The results highlight the growing dominance of the BJP-led alliance across local self-government constituencies, with several opposition candidates recording dismal vote counts. In one constituency, a Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate managed only five votes, while a Congress candidate failed to secure a single vote.
