Mukesh Thakur entered government service in 2007 after successfully clearing the Maharashtra Public Service Commission's Engineering Services Examination and joining the Public Works Department as an Assistant Engineer (Grade-I).

During his tenure at Yawal in Jalgaon district, he demonstrated remarkable technical expertise by surveying and designing roads, bridges, and retaining walls in the dense forest region surrounding the renowned Manudevi pilgrimage and tourism site. He personally supervised work in difficult terrains, ensuring quality and timely execution.

Later, while serving in the Jalgaon Public Works Circle, he played a crucial role in monitoring National Highway projects across the Nashik regional division, gaining recognition for his meticulous planning and execution.

During his tenure in Amalner and Sakri, he prioritized infrastructure projects in rural and tribal areas. Under his leadership, ten residential school buildings in remote tribal regions were constructed with exceptional quality standards, setting an example for government departments across the state.

One of his notable achievements was overseeing the construction of a 127-meter-long bridge connecting Surpan village, significantly improving connectivity and accessibility for local residents.

His tenure in Dharangaon also witnessed several important development initiatives, including urban infrastructure projects under the Nagar Utthan Yojana. Public sanitation facilities and civic amenities developed during this period contributed significantly to urban improvement efforts.

Leadership in Dhule District Development

Promoted as Executive Engineer in 2022, Thakur assumed greater responsibilities and played a key role in accelerating development across Dhule district, including the talukas of Dhule, Sakri, Shirpur, and Shindkheda.

Through close coordination with elected representatives and government departments, he ensured the timely completion of critical public infrastructure projects. Housing schemes, toilets, health centers, anganwadis, school buildings, crematoriums, and road networks were developed efficiently under his supervision.

His contributions significantly strengthened the district's development indicators and improved the quality of life in rural communities.

Contribution to Jal Jeevan Mission

Recognizing his competence and dedication, then Chief Executive Officer Mrs. Bhuvaneshwari entrusted him with additional responsibilities related to water supply management.

Thakur played a vital role in planning and implementing the Government of India's ambitious Jal Jeevan Mission across Dhule district. Through effective coordination among government agencies, local representatives, and administrative departments, he helped ensure the successful execution of water supply projects benefiting thousands of rural households.

Transforming Infrastructure in Nashik

Since 2025, Mukesh Thakur has been serving in the Public Works Department (East Division), Nashik. Here too, he has continued his commitment to development, focusing on Chandwad, Nandgaon, and Yeola talukas.

A notable example of his administrative capabilities was his role in organizing infrastructure and logistical arrangements for the grand Panch Kalyanak Mahotsav held at the newly established Namokar Tirth in Malsane village, Chandwad taluka, in 2026.

Working under the guidance of senior administrative officials and in coordination with departments such as the Zilla Parishad, Municipal Corporation, Water Supply Department, Electricity Department, Police Department, Revenue Department, and local municipal councils, Thakur ensured meticulous planning and flawless execution of the event within a limited timeframe.

The event was attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and several cabinet ministers, who appreciated the quality of work undertaken by the Public Works Department.
