The Shivraj Singh Chouhan government in Madhya Pradesh has woken up after many people were poisoned. Anyone selling poisonous liquor will now be sentenced to life imprisonment or death. The fine for the same offense has also been doubled.

In the state, a person selling poisonous liquor was sentenced to 5 to 10 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10 lakh. He will now be sentenced to life imprisonment or death and fined Rs 20 lakh for smuggling and selling poisonous illicit liquor.

In Ujjain, Indore, Mandsaur and Guna districts many people died due to drinking poisonous liquor. The state government has approved the Excise Act Amendment Bill 2021 in cabinet meeting. The government will try to get the bill passed in the rainy session of the legislature.
