Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan has launched the official website of the third edition of the Wayanad Literature Festival (WLF), formally setting the stage for what is billed as India's largest rural literature festival.
The four-day international literary event will be held from December 20 to 23, 2026, at Dwaraka in Mananthavady, Wayanad.
The website was unveiled at a function chaired by Agriculture Minister T. Siddique, who is also the patron of the festival. The launch marked the official commencement of preparations for the biennial event, which is expected to attract prominent writers, poets, artists, filmmakers, academics, public intellectuals and readers from India and around the world.
Among those present at the launch were MLAs Usha Vijayan and I.C. Balakrishnan, Festival Director and senior journalist Dr. Vinod K. Jose, Thiruvananthapuram Corporation Councillor K.S. Shabarinath, K-DISC Executive Director P.M. Riyas, Edavaka Panchayat member Shilson Mathew, Festival Executive Producer Akhin Sreedhar, Content Manager Ajin and Video Head Nidhin.
The festival, organised on a Biennale model, will open at 11 am on December 20 with Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan inaugurating the event. Over four days, the festival will host literary discussions, author interactions, book launches, cultural programmes and an international academic conference.
This year's edition will place special emphasis on contemporary global and regional concerns, including climate change, the livelihood and rights of farmers, and issues affecting tribal communities.
The organisers said the festival aims to foster meaningful dialogue on literature, culture, society and public policy while providing a platform for diverse voices.
Writer V.H. Nishad and journalist Leena Geetha Raghunath are the curators of the 2026 edition, which is expected to further strengthen the festival's reputation as one of India's leading literary gatherings and the country's largest rural literature festival.
