US responsibility to protect Taiwan: Joe Biden

Washington / News Agency

If China invades the Taiwanese islands, the US will come forward to protect Taiwan. Its our commitment; US President Joe Biden said.

Biden's remarks are considered inconsistent with the "policy ambiguity" the United States has adopted so far. Give Taiwan all the help it needs to be defensive. However, the US policy so far has been not to go to the battlefield on its own.

The United States is committed to protecting its allies in NATO. "As much as we have a duty to Canada, to European countries, we have a duty to Japan, to Korea and to Taiwan," Biden said. However, a White House spokesman said that US policy towards Taiwan had not changed.
