India has told the ruling Taliban in Afghanistan that using Afghanistan should not be a form of intimidation or incitement to terrorism.

At the UN forum, India expressed concern over the situation in Afghanistan. It also said that the promises made by the Taliban must be strictly adhered to. TS Thirumurthy, India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, said that Afghan soil should not be used to train, fund or conspire for terrorists.

The situation in Afghanistan was also discussed at a virtual meeting of BRICS chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. An appeal was made to the mob to stay away from violence and find a peaceful way out of the situation. The need for internal dialogue to create peace, stability and people-oriented order in the country was also expressed at the meeting.
