In a bid to tackle the alarming rise in crimes against women and girls, Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar today launched the "Shakti Abhiyan" initiative.

Speaking at a press conference, Pawar emphasized the need for urgent action to curb violence against women and girls. "The incidents happening in the state and in Baramati are unacceptable. We have discussed with senior police officers and decided to launch Shakti Abhiyan, focusing on women's dignity, parents' safety, and youth awareness."

Key Features of Shakti Abhiyan:

- Shaktibox: Confidential complaint boxes in schools, colleges, hostels, private companies, and government offices.
- One Call Problem Solve: 24/7 helpline for girls to report complaints.
- Power Cell: Dedicated rooms at police stations staffed by two women policemen.

Pawar appealed to citizens to support the initiative, stressing the importance of maintaining law and order in rapidly growing cities like Baramati.

With Shakti Abhiyan, the Maharashtra government aims to provide a safer environment for women and girls, ensuring prompt action against perpetrators.

Mumbai  - With the Maharashtra Elections 2024 approaching, the ruling Grand Alliance and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) are gearing up for a fierce battle. In a recent press conference, Sharad Pawar revealed the coalition government's formula for the post of Chief Minister, stating that the party with the most strength will claim the position after the elections.

This formula, first implemented in 1995 by Balasaheb Thackeray and Pramod Mahajan, has been a cornerstone of Maharashtra's politics for 29 years. The same formula may now prove satisfactory for the ruling Grand Alliance, with the BJP likely to emerge as the largest party.

In the Grand Alliance, the BJP currently holds more seats than Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar's NCP. Devendra Fadnavis, who led the BJP to victory in the 2019 elections, is likely to be the party's choice for Chief Minister if the alliance comes to power.

Meanwhile, the NCP has claimed 60 seats, and Eknath Shinde is expected to agree to the same formula. However, the BJP's winning percentage in the previous assembly elections suggests that they may demand more seats this year and claim the post of Chief Minister.
