Pune, June 26

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar inaugurated a housing complex comprising 52 eco-friendly homes for families from the Thakar tribal community at Rase village in Khed taluka, describing the project as a significant step towards integrating tribal families into the mainstream of development.

The project has been implemented by the Pune Zilla Parishad in collaboration with Rase Gram Panchayat, Habitat for Humanity India, and funded through Citibank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. Pawar also virtually inaugurated a passenger boat service between Wada and Sakurdi to improve connectivity in the region.

Addressing the gathering, Pawar said owning a safe and dignified home is a lifelong dream for every family and noted that the new housing complex would provide security and improve the quality of life for the beneficiaries. The project includes amenities such as solar-powered electricity, toilets, water management systems, and wastewater treatment facilities.

She added that the revived boat service would benefit farmers, students, workers, and tourists while strengthening rural connectivity and emergency access in the western part of Khed taluka.

Officials said the housing project was completed under the PM Janman Scheme with support from Habitat for Humanity India, and similar housing complexes are planned across Pune district in the coming months.
