IUML claims that the provisions of the CAA law are arbitrary and give unfair advantage to a section on the basis of religious identity alone, which is a violation of Articles 14 and 15 of the Constitution. IUML has demanded an early hearing on the petition saying that if citizenship is given to someone according to the law, then it cannot be taken back.

It is worth noting that the central government has clarified that after the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in India, getting citizenship is not a complicated process. According to the government, a total of nine documents can be used to answer the question of country of origin. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, any of the 20 documents can be used to prove the date of arrival in India while applying for citizenship.
