BJP Rajya Sabha MP Rahul Sinha on Wednesday said the Trinamool Congress is rapidly disintegrating due to a lack of ideology, internal democracy and public confidence.

Addressing a Press conference at the BJP state headquarters in Salt Lake, Sinha said leaders and workers at different levels were leaving the TMC, reflecting what he described as a growing crisis within the party.
“The absence of principles, ideology and democratic functioning has weakened the organisation. People are losing faith in the party, and that is why it is facing such a situation today,” Sinha said.

The BJP leader also referred to investigations into alleged corruption during the previous state administration, claiming that several instances of financial irregularities were now coming to light.

He alleged that charges related to cut-money collections, extortion, housing schemes and other government projects were being substantiated through ongoing probes.

According to Sinha, large sums of money allegedly collected from ordinary citizens through coercive means were being recovered, exposing what he termed the true extent of corruption under the previous regime.

On the issue of infiltration, Sinha reiterated the BJP’s long-standing allegation that illegal immigration from Bangladesh, including the entry of Rohingyas, had been encouraged over the years, affecting the demographic balance of the state.

He claimed that recent investigatios and administrative measures were revealing the validity of those concerns.
Speaking on industrial development, Sinha said the BJP government was committed to creating a business-friendly environment in the state. He maintained that the elimination of cut-money practices and extortion would restore confidence among industrialists and investors, leading to fresh investments and employment opportunities.
Efforts to revive closed industrial units had already begun, he added. Referring to the observance of “West Bengal Day” on June 20, Sinha said the occasion belonged to all residents of the state and should not be viewed through a political lens.

He emphasised the historical contribution of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee, stating that West Bengal’s inclusion within India was made possible because of his efforts.

He urged people to observe West Bengal Day on June 20, Mookerjee’s martyrdom day on June 23 and his birth anniversary on July 6 with due respect and dignity.

Sinha also spoke on issues relating to development in the hills, democratic functioning in the Assembly, transparency in social welfare schemes and maintenance of law and order.

He asserted that government benefits would reach genuine beneficiaries without political discrimination and warned that attacks on security personnel and government employees would be dealt with strictly under the law.
