PUNE, 8 NOV. Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is currently facing serious allegations of financial corruption concerning the procurement of civic supplies. MNS leader Hema Sambhus has officially filed a complaint with the Municipal Commissioner, Naval Kishore Ram, alleging that the PMC has incurred a loss of approximately ₹2 crore of public funds.

The core of the allegation revolves around the purchase of two specific items: uniforms and Ecochip powder. According to the MNS complaint, a significant quantity of uniforms purchased for PMC employees, particularly those in the solid waste management or health departments, have remained unused and are now lying idle in storage. This has led to the waste of the capital invested in their procurement. Similarly, a large stock of Ecochip powder—a substance typically used for sanitation, cleaning, or pest control purposes—was purchased but has not been utilized effectively, leading to its potential expiry or damage, resulting in another major financial loss to the municipal treasury.

MNS leader Hema Sambhus has accused administrative officials of gross negligence and potential collusion in these procurements, suggesting that the items were bought in excess or without proper need assessment, thereby draining the PMC's funds unnecessarily. The complaint vehemently argues that such financial mismanagement and waste of public money cannot be tolerated.

The MNS has demanded that Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram immediately initiate a high-level inquiry into the entire procurement process for both the uniforms and the Ecochip powder. The party seeks accountability, asking for strict action to be taken against the negligent and corrupt officials responsible for this significant loss of ₹2 crore, with a view to recovering the wasted public funds. The Commissioner is expected to review the complaint and launch an investigation to ascertain the facts and the extent of the alleged financial impropriety.
