PUNE, 8 NOV. The Registration and Stamp Duty Department has informed Parth Pawar's company, Amedia, that the cancellation of the land purchase deal will only be possible after the company pays the outstanding stamp duty on the transaction, along with an equal amount required by rules for the cancellation process. Consequently, the deal could not be cancelled on Friday, according to officials from the department.

Amedia company, where Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s son Parth Pawar is a director, had acquired about 40 acres of 'Mahar Watan' land in the Mundhwa area for an estimated ₹300 crore. As per law, Mahar Watan land cannot be sold, transferred, or mortgaged without government permission. The company has been accused of undervaluing the transaction to evade stamp duty.

When parties representing Parth Pawar's company arrived at the Joint Sub-Registrar's office on Friday evening to cancel the deal, they were informed that the automatic waiver of ₹21 crore in stamp duty, which was sought earlier, would now be void due to the cancellation. As a result, the company will have to pay this ₹21 crore, plus the equal amount required for cancellation, along with other surcharges, totaling an estimated ₹43 crore in stamp duty.

Joint District Registrar Santosh Hingane stated that parties had arrived to cancel the Mundhwa land deal, but they were instructed to deposit the full stamp duty amount. The process of cancellation will only be completed after the amount is submitted.

Meanwhile, a committee headed by Joint Inspector General of Registration Rajendra Muthe has begun an in-depth inquiry into the matter. This committee is expected to submit its report to the state government within seven days, examining if there were any flaws in the document registration process.

Inspector General of Registration Dr. Suhas Diwase to the state government on Thursday had mentioned that the government was defrauded in the transaction. The Muthe committee will also investigate this aspect, which was primarily discussed in its initial meeting.
