PUNE, 7 NOV. A meeting with political parties was held today, chaired by Divisional Commissioner and Voter Registration Officer Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar, to provide information on name registrations completed by November 6, as part of the program to prepare a new voter list based on the cut-off date of November 1 for the Graduate and Teachers Constituencies. Dr. Pulkundwar appealed to all District Collectors and political parties to make efforts to ensure the registration of the maximum number of voters.

Attending the meeting at the Divisional Commissioner's office were Additional Commissioner Tushar Thombre, Deputy District Election Officer Minal Kalaskar, and district heads and representatives of political parties. Additionally, District Collectors, party leaders, and representatives from Satara, Solapur, Sangli, and Kolhapur districts under the Pune division participated via video conferencing.

Voter List Program Schedule

Divisional Commissioner Dr. Pulkundwar informed that as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India, the program to prepare the voter list afresh was started one year before the elections. Under the new voter list preparation program for the Graduate and Teachers Constituencies, 564 officers have been appointed across 58 talukas of the Pune division.

Expressing concern, he stated that the voter registration until the last date for accepting claims (November 6) through Form No. 18 or 19 was lower compared to the previous election.

The upcoming crucial dates under the program are: the Draft Voter List will be released on Tuesday, November 25. Objections and suggestions will be accepted between November 25 and December 10. The settlement of objections and suggestions, along with the preparation and printing of the final list, will be completed by December 25. The Final Voter List will be released on Tuesday, December 30.

Dr. Pulkundwar appealed to political parties to spread awareness among voters, as registration will continue during this period as well. He noted that even after the final voter list is issued, names can still be registered until the elections are announced. Therefore, everyone should strive to ensure that the maximum number of eligible voters are registered.
