PUNE, 4 NOV. The implementation of two metro rail projects under the expansion of Pune Metro Phase-2 (Khadakwasla-Swargate-Hadapsar-Kharadi route) was approved on Tuesday, November 4, at a meeting of the Cabinet Infrastructure Committee chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at the Ministry. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, providing this information, stated that this decision marks the success of his continuous efforts as the Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister of Pune District.

These two spurs will have a total length of 16 kilometres and will include a total of 14 elevated stations. The fully elevated metro projects are estimated to cost ₹5,704 crore, and their implementation through Maha Metro was approved in Tuesday's meeting.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar expressed confidence that these two projects will provide significant relief to Pune city residents from traffic jams. The spurs will extend the Pune Metro network towards the east, directly benefiting East Pune and the surrounding rural areas with metro services. This will provide millions of commuters with fast and safe transport facilities. Pawar also informed that this expansion under Pune Metro Phase-2 will provide vital metro connectivity to rapidly developing suburbs like Hadapsar, Fursungi, Loni Kalbhor, and Saswad. He added that this metro connectivity will reduce travel time and help in lowering pollution.
