Opposition leaders are attacking the BJP after the murder of mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee has once again attacked about this. Taking a jibe on Monday, he said that encounters have become common for the people of Uttar Pradesh. Accusing the saffron party, the TMC supremo said that if something happens in West Bengal, they (BJP) send central agencies, but it is not the case for UP. The double engine of BJP is of second standard.

Regarding the Atiq-Ashraf murder case and the encounters in Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that the people of UP should oppose these encounters. During this, he also hit back at the recent statement made by Amit Shah in West Bengal. Attacking Home Minister Shah, Mamta said that Shah says that the West Bengal government will not run beyond 2025. Is the constitution being changed?

Demanding the resignation of Home Minister Shah, he said that instead of protecting India, Home Minister Amit Shah is conspiring to topple my government. Home Minister Amit Shah should resign for threatening to bring down my government prematurely.

Accusing the BJP of playing polarizing politics, the West Bengal CM further said that whenever elections are held, the BJP makes comments that polarize communities. He also reacted to the action of central agencies taking place one after the other against the MLAs of his party. He said that TMC MLAs are being systematically targeted. At the same time, no action is being taken against the wrongdoers in the BJP. In such a situation, only the judiciary can save the country. Speaking further, he also talked about opposition unity. Mamata Banerjee said that if all the parties unite then the BJP will lose the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Mamta Banerjee also said that the standards of the Bharatiya Janata Party, which talks about a double engine government, are also double. She also said that she will not allow NRC or CAA to be implemented in Bengal.
