Pune : The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas faction) has accused the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) of large-scale corruption in the allocation of 20% reserved housing for the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) across seven major MHADA-backed housing projects in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. The party has threatened to launch an agitation outside MHADA’s office if action is not taken against those responsible.

The party's Pune City President, Sanjay Alhat, along with Milind Gaikwad (retired ACP and legal advisor of Home Right Foundation), General Secretary K.C. Pawar, Coordinator Rahul Ubhe, and Advocate Amit Darekar submitted a formal memorandum to MHADA officials and municipal commissioners on 28 July 2025, demanding an investigation.

Despite repeated complaints and a press conference on 12 April 2025, no corrective action was taken. The party has highlighted irregularities in the following projects:

• Nirman Estrella (Kondhwa)

• Ambience Vivanta (Katraj–Kondhwa Road)

• Solitaire World (Bibwewadi)

• Suyog Srivatsa (Bibwewadi)

• Ganga Florentina (Mohammadwadi)

• Suyog Spaces (Wakad)

Key Allegations:

• Violation of MHADA and MahaRERA rules in project approvals and implementation.

• Illegal benefit of 20% slum rehabilitation quota taken by some builders before the relevant government resolution (dated 2 December 2020) even came into effect.

• Deceptive allotment practices: Instead of actual flats, token lots were shown on separate plots.

• Propriety concerns regarding the use of private firm Probity Software Pvt. Ltd. in managing the lottery and registration process.

• Lack of oversight due to absence of a Deputy Chief Officer in MHADA.

• False certification: Builders received completion certificates despite not transferring 20% flats to MHADA as per law.

Demands by Lok Janshakti Party:

1. Reserved EWS flats should be allotted on-site in the original project locations.

2. Action against negligent officials.

3. Public disclosure of all 20% reserved housing allocations on MHADA’s website.

4. Criminal cases to be filed based on complaints submitted to the Economic Offences Wing.

5. Asset audits of all officials involved in these projects.

6. Disclosure of the number of projects approved in violation of the 20% EWS housing rule.

The party alleges that about 1,400 flats meant for the poor were diverted or never handed over, defeating the scheme’s purpose and promoting real estate fraud under the guise of rehabilitation.
