In a significant judgment, the court has acquitted all accused in the Malegaon bomb blast case due to lack of evidence. The court remarked that investigative agencies failed to substantiate the charges, and the prosecution was unable to prove any of the allegations made.

The blast occurred on 29th September 2008, during the holy month of Ramzan, in a Muslim-majority area of Malegaon, resulting in the deaths of six people and injuries to 101 others.

Among those accused were ex BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur, then-army officer Colonel Prasad Purohit, and nine others.

The court observed that the prosecution failed to conclusively prove that the deaths were a result of the bomb blast. Furthermore, it could not be established that the motorcycle used in the blast belonged to Sadhvi Pragya Singh, or that RDX explosives were planted in it.

After seventeen years, the court has delivered its verdict, acquitting all accused due to insufficient evidence and a failure by the prosecution to prove its case beyond doubt.
