Senior Congress leader and former minister Shashi Tharoor was acquitted by a court on charges of causing the death of his wife Sunanda Tharoor. Special Judge Gitanjali Goyal delivered the verdict during an online hearing. After the verdict, Shashi Tharoor expressed the feeling that he finally got justice.

Sunanda was found dead in a hotel. Thanking the judge after the verdict, Tharoor said the last seven-and-a-half years have been very bad. However, this result is a relief. The period after his wife's death was like a nightmare for us. I had to face many baseless allegations. Defamatory text was published in the media. However, I had faith in the judiciary. This belief has come true after this verdict, Tharoor said.

In the judiciary, the process of getting justice becomes a punishment. Today, however, we have received justice. Now we all the family members will pray for peace in the soul of Sunanda, Tharoor said. He also thanked his lawyers.
