The IT Park project was announced for Solapur by Devendra Fadnavis. Following the announcement, the district administration had submitted a proposal to the state government for establishing the IT Park on land belonging to the Water Resources Department along Hotgi Road, near Solapur city.

Since the proposed site falls under the jurisdiction of the Water Resources Department, the land is expected to be transferred to the Revenue Department after obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC). It would then be handed over to the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) for the development of the IT Park, as per earlier directions issued by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

However, during his visit to Solapur on June 12, Industry Minister Uday Samant reiterated that the IT Park should ideally be located within the city, reigniting discussions over the project's final location.

Officials said several sites, including Hiraj, Kumbhari, the old mill area, and Hotgi, were inspected before the Hotgi site was shortlisted. The proposed IT Park is expected to be developed on approximately 50 acres of government land currently owned by the Water Resources Department.

₹40 Crore Project Receives Preliminary Approval

According to officials, the proposed IT Park is expected to require an investment of around ₹40 crore. A detailed project proposal has already received approval from a high-level state government committee.

The Hotgi site was initially earmarked for a logistics park. However, the land is now being considered for the IT Park project, which is expected to boost investment, employment opportunities, and the growth of the technology sector in Solapur.

Speaking to the media, Ingle said the public deserves clarity on the circumstances surrounding the incident and urged authorities to constitute a high-level inquiry. He emphasized that all aspects of the matter should be examined impartially so that the facts can be established and presented before the public.

The farmers' organization has maintained that a transparent and independent investigation is necessary to dispel doubts and ensure public confidence in the inquiry process. According to Ingle, the demand is not aimed at drawing conclusions in advance but at ensuring that all relevant facts are thoroughly examined.

The organization also noted that no final findings have yet been announced by the official investigating agencies. As a result, no definitive claims can be made regarding the cause of the incident or any alleged wrongdoing until the inquiry is completed.

Members of the Non-7/12 Farmers' Association said they would continue their agitation through democratic means until their demand for an independent probe is addressed. The hunger strike at Azad Maidan is expected to continue until the authorities provide a response to the group's demands.

Hundreds of residents from the MHADA New PMGP Co-operative Housing Society in Mulund (East) staged a protest march to the MHADA headquarters in Bandra, demanding immediate action on a redevelopment project that has remained incomplete for nearly 19 years.

The redevelopment project, which involves 1,399 society members, began in 2007. However, despite the passage of almost two decades, 606 residential units and 47 commercial shops are yet to be completed by MHADA authorities. As a result, affected residents have been facing significant hardships and uncertainty for years.

According to members of the Janakalyan Residents Development Committee, residents had repeatedly sought meetings with MHADA's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Vice-President (VP) over the past year. However, they alleged that they were unable to secure appointments with senior officials, prompting the committee to organize a protest march to the MHADA headquarters on June 9, 2026.

More than 250 affected residents participated in the demonstration. The protest also received support from Namdevrao Jadhav, founder of the Chhatrapati Shasan Party, along with the committee's legal advisors.

Residents claimed that despite it being a designated public grievance day, senior officials left the premises after learning about the large gathering. Protesters further alleged that they were prevented from entering the MHADA building by security personnel stationed at the entrance.

Following the protest, a delegation of residents, accompanied by Namdevrao Jadhav, held discussions with officials in the offices of the CEO and Vice-President. During the meeting, MHADA officials reportedly assured the Janakalyan Residents Development Committee that a formal meeting with the affected residents would be convened at the earliest to address their long-pending concerns.

The residents have demanded a clear timeline for completion of the remaining units and shops, stating that they will continue their efforts until the stalled redevelopment project is completed.

To further strengthen the agricultural education, research, and extension system in the state, the revised staffing pattern for a total of 3,723 posts in Group 'A' and Group 'B' categories of agricultural universities has been approved. This new staffing pattern has been formulated after 23 years, i.e., since 2003. This decision will make human resource management in universities more effective, enhance the quality of research and teaching, and help disseminate modern agricultural technology to farmers at a faster pace,” informed Agriculture Minister Dattatray Bharne.

The State Government has granted approval to the revised staffing pattern for Group-A and Group-B category posts across all four agricultural universities in the state. The Department of Agriculture and ADF (Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, and Fisheries) has issued a Government Resolution (GR) to this effect, approving a revised staffing pattern of 3,723 posts in total, which includes 3,611 regular posts and 112 posts to be filled through outsourcing.

This decision will significantly strengthen the administrative and academic frameworks of Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri; Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola; Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth, Dapoli; and Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani.

According to the Government Resolution, the approved regular staffing pattern allocates 1,217 posts to Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri; 589 posts to Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth, Dapoli; 890 posts to Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani; and 915 posts to Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola. Additionally, approval has been granted to fill certain posts through outsourcing.

The government clarified that the procedures regarding Group-C and Group-D category posts are being handled independently, and orders regarding those will be issued at a later date.

This decision has been made keeping in view the changing requirements in the field of agricultural education and research. It is being considered a crucial step toward enhancing the efficiency of agricultural universities, boosting research, and providing higher-quality education to students.

The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on Thursday staged a protest at the Savitribai Phule Pune University campus, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination, paper leak allegations, and reported discrepancies in various educational examinations and recruitment processes.

The demonstration, held near the statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on the university campus, was led by CJP founder Abhijit Dipke and drew participation from students, parents, youth activists, and representatives of several social organizations. The protest was conducted with prior permission from the university administration and under prescribed conditions.

Addressing the gathering, protesters alleged that repeated irregularities in examination and recruitment systems have eroded students' trust in public institutions and adversely impacted their academic and career prospects. They urged the Central Government to take serious cognizance of the concerns raised by students and implement concrete measures to ensure transparency, accountability, and credibility in the examination process.

Participants raised slogans such as “Narendra Modi, Answer Us” and “Justice for Students,” calling for accountability over the alleged lapses in national-level examinations. Demonstrators also demanded an impartial investigation into the alleged irregularities and sought systemic reforms to safeguard the interests of students and job aspirants.

Several prominent personalities, including environmentalist Sonam Wangchuk, social activist Vishwambhar Chaudhary, and advocate Asim Sarode, attended the event and expressed concern over issues relating to educational governance, examination integrity, and transparency in public recruitment systems.

The protest witnessed a brief period of tension when a verbal altercation reportedly broke out between a few participants and media representatives, leading to momentary commotion at the venue. Some protesters alleged attempts to divert attention from the issues being highlighted by the movement. Police personnel and security officials closely monitored the situation, while organizers appealed to participants to maintain peace and discipline throughout the demonstration.

Speaking on the occasion, CJP leaders stated that the movement aims to protect students' interests and ensure equal and fair opportunities in education and employment. They reiterated their demand that the Union Education Minister accept moral responsibility for the alleged examination irregularities and step down from office.

The party announced that its agitation would continue until its demands are met and resolved to mobilize students and youth across the country to build a broader movement against alleged irregularities in the education sector. Organizers also revealed plans to launch a nationwide awareness campaign focusing on transparency and accountability in educational examinations and recruitment processes.

The Pune protest follows a similar demonstration organized earlier at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. With concerns over examination integrity continuing to spark debate across the country, the agitation at Savitribai Phule Pune University underscored growing student dissatisfaction and renewed calls for comprehensive reforms in India's examination and recruitment systems.

To assess the extensive damage caused to banana plantations by unseasonal rains and hailstorms, District Collector S. Karthikeyan visited farms in the Garapur area of Madha Taluka and inspected the affected fields. Interacting directly with farmers, he assured them that the administration stands firmly behind them during this difficult period.

The recent hailstorm has caused significant damage to banana crops across the taluka. Strong winds and heavy hail led to the uprooting and destruction of banana plants, severely affecting expected yields and farmers’ incomes. In response, Collector Karthikeyan, accompanied by officials from the Revenue and Agriculture Departments, conducted an on-site inspection to evaluate the extent of the losses.

During the visit, he gathered information from farmers regarding the nature of the damage, its financial impact, and the assistance they expect from the government. He instructed officials to carry out damage assessments accurately and without delay, emphasizing that the administration would make every effort to ensure eligible farmers receive assistance under government norms and guidelines.

Farmers also shared their concerns and hardships with the Collector. They pointed out that rising production costs, unpredictable weather conditions, and fluctuating market prices had already put them under financial strain, and the hailstorm had further worsened their situation.

Offering reassurance to the affected farmers, Collector Karthikeyan directed the Agriculture and Revenue Departments to work in coordination and prepare an objective and comprehensive damage assessment report. His direct interaction with farmers and field inspection has brought a sense of relief among the farming community, which now hopes for swift implementation of relief measures.

The Collector’s visit to the affected farms following the hailstorm has highlighted the administration’s sensitivity toward farmers’ issues and strengthened hopes that the affected cultivators will receive timely support and justice.

Senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Prithviraj Chavan, on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on the union Government, accusing it of systemic failure in managing the economy of the country and failing to ensure the integrity of critical competitive exams.

Chavan raised serious concerns over the depreciating value of the Indian Rupee, which he claimed is on the verge of hitting the Rs 100 mark against the US Dollar. He further blamed the Centre's "mismanagement" for the rising inflation, specifically citing fuel price hikes and the potential fallout from the conflict in Iran.

"The country's economy is in complete shambles. The government is silently picking the pockets of the common man by gradually increasing gas and petrol prices," Chavan alleged, questioning the government's performance across key sectors.

He also criticized the Centre's foreign policy, claiming that even neighboring Pakistan has gained more diplomatic prominence by mediating in the Iran-US conflict, while India remains conspicuously absent from such international initiatives.

Turning his focus to the 'NEET' paper leak controversy, Chavan termed it a "massive scam" and demanded the immediate resignation of union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. He asserted that such large-scale malpractice could not occur without high-level political protection.

"The government has arrested a few professors, but why has no action been taken against any top-level officials? This is a case of 'Rajashraya' (state-sponsored patronage). Millions of students have had their futures pushed into darkness," he stated.

Chavan recalled the instances of former Congress Chief Ministers Vilasrao Deshmukh and Ashok Chavan, who stepped down to accept moral responsibility for their respective tenures, despite not being directly involved in personal wrongdoing. "In this government, ministers lack the shame to do the same," he added.

Challenging the Centre to release a 'White Paper' detailing all paper leak incidents reported across the country since 2011, he warned that merely transferring officials would not solve the core issue and argued that if the government does not take ownership of its failures, incidents like the NEET leak are bound to repeat next year.
"The government must admit its failure. Who is the mastermind behind this massive operation that has crippled the entire examination system? The government owes an answer to the 23 lakh students whose futures are currently at stake," Chavan added.

In life, no challenge is insurmountable if one possesses determination, wisdom, and the willingness to work hard. The life and career of Executive Engineer Mukesh Usha Bhalchandra Thakur of the Nashik (East) Public Works Department stand as a testament to this truth.

The true measure of a government officer lies not in the position he holds but in how effectively he uses that position for public welfare. It is his ability to overcome administrative challenges, deliver results, and improve people's lives that defines his success. Mukesh Thakur is one such rare officer whose contributions have left a lasting impact on Maharashtra's infrastructure and development landscape.

Recognizing his exceptional public service, Thakur has recently been selected for the prestigious "Maharashtra Ratna" Award, conferred by Navbharat Media. The award will be presented to him at a grand ceremony in New Delhi.

Early Career and Professional Excellence

Mukesh Thakur entered government service in 2007 after successfully clearing the Maharashtra Public Service Commission's Engineering Services Examination and joining the Public Works Department as an Assistant Engineer (Grade-I).

During his tenure at Yawal in Jalgaon district, he demonstrated remarkable technical expertise by surveying and designing roads, bridges, and retaining walls in the dense forest region surrounding the renowned Manudevi pilgrimage and tourism site. He personally supervised work in difficult terrains, ensuring quality and timely execution.

Later, while serving in the Jalgaon Public Works Circle, he played a crucial role in monitoring National Highway projects across the Nashik regional division, gaining recognition for his meticulous planning and execution.

Remaining Connected to the Common Man

Success often distances individuals from their roots. However, Mukesh Thakur remains an exception. Despite holding senior administrative positions, he has maintained a close connection with ordinary citizens and rural communities.

Throughout his career, he has focused on development projects that directly impact people's lives, including anganwadi buildings, primary health centers, schools, crematoriums, roads, and sanitation facilities.

During his tenure in Amalner and Sakri, he prioritized infrastructure projects in rural and tribal areas. Under his leadership, ten residential school buildings in remote tribal regions were constructed with exceptional quality standards, setting an example for government departments across the state.

Championing Tribal and Rural Development

Known for his calm demeanor and thoughtful decision-making, Thakur has consistently worked with sensitivity toward public needs. In tribal regions such as Pimpalner and other remote areas of Sakri taluka, he successfully implemented numerous development projects.

One of his notable achievements was overseeing the construction of a 127-meter-long bridge connecting Surpan village, significantly improving connectivity and accessibility for local residents.

His tenure in Dharangaon also witnessed several important development initiatives, including urban infrastructure projects under the Nagar Utthan Yojana. Public sanitation facilities and civic amenities developed during this period contributed significantly to urban improvement efforts.

Promoted as Executive Engineer in 2022, Thakur assumed greater responsibilities and played a key role in accelerating development across Dhule district, including the talukas of Dhule, Sakri, Shirpur, and Shindkheda.

Through close coordination with elected representatives and government departments, he ensured the timely completion of critical public infrastructure projects.
Contribution to Jal Jeevan Mission

Recognizing his competence and dedication, then Chief Executive Officer Mrs. Bhuvaneshwari entrusted him with additional responsibilities related to water supply management.

Thakur played a vital role in planning and implementing the Government of India's ambitious Jal Jeevan Mission across Dhule district. Through effective coordination among government agencies, local representatives, and administrative departments, he helped ensure the successful execution of water supply projects benefiting thousands of rural households.

Transforming Infrastructure in Nashik

Since 2025, Mukesh Thakur has been serving in the Public Works Department (East Division), Nashik. Here too, he has continued his commitment to development, focusing on Chandwad, Nandgaon, and Yeola talukas.

A notable example of his administrative capabilities was his role in organizing infrastructure and logistical arrangements for the grand Panch Kalyanak Mahotsav held at the newly established Namokar Tirth in Malsane village, Chandwad taluka, in 2026.

Working under the guidance of senior administrative officials and in coordination with departments such as the Zilla Parishad, Municipal Corporation, Water Supply Department, Electricity Department, Police Department, Revenue Department, and local municipal councils, Thakur ensured meticulous planning and flawless execution of the event within a limited timeframe.

The event was attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and several cabinet ministers, who appreciated the quality of work undertaken by the Public Works Department.

His career reflects unwavering integrity, professional excellence, and dedication to public service. Whether executing complex infrastructure projects or addressing grassroots developmental needs, he has consistently demonstrated a commitment to governance that benefits both the state and society.

Hundreds of farmers intensified their agitation on Wednesday by staging a dramatic ‘Jal Samadhi’ (water immersion) protest in Kambar Lake on Vijapur Road in Solapur, demanding payment of long-pending sugarcane dues from Gokul Sugar Factory at Dhotri. The protest, organized by the Gokul Pending Sugarcane Dues Farmers and Farmers’ Struggle Committee from Tuljapur and Akkalkot, entered its 17th day.

Around 1,000 to 1,500 farmers participated in the protest, wading into the waters of Kambar Lake and raising slogans against the sugar factory management for failing to clear their outstanding payments.

Expressing their anger, the protesting farmers said, “We have worked hard to cultivate sugarcane, yet we are not receiving our rightful payments on time. Sugarcane dues are our right, not an act of charity. Delayed payments have pushed many farming families towards financial distress.”

The large-scale protest prompted authorities to convert the Kambar Lake and Vijapur Road area into a heavily guarded zone. To prevent any untoward incidents, a substantial police force was deployed, while fire brigade personnel and rescue teams remained on standby.

Earlier in the day, farmers marched on foot under the scorching sun from their sit-in protest site near the District Collector’s office to Kambar Lake. Upon reaching the lake, they entered the water and continued their agitation, demanding immediate clearance of the pending dues. Several farmers also voiced their grievances before officials present at the site.

For security arrangements, nearly 150 to 200 police personnel from Sadar Bazar, Vijapur Road, and Salgar Vasti police stations were deployed. Senior officials, including Assistant Commissioners of Police Ambika Kure, Dilip Pawar and Pritam Yawalkar, Police Commissioner M. Rajkumar, Tehsildar Kiran Jamdade, and Sub-Divisional Officer Sumit Shinde, were present during the protest.

With the issue of pending sugarcane payments still unresolved, farmer leaders warned that the agitation could become more intense in the coming days. The farming community is now closely watching the response of the district administration and the factory management to their demands.
